Citrus Heights, California - At almost 100 years, Arlene Oldham left this world on June 8, 2022, to join Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Born on a farm in Virgil, Kansas on August 24, 1922, her family moved to Citrus Heights, CA in 1936. She and her twin sister, Martha Earlene (Hanaway), graduated from San Juan High School in 1940. She married Jesse Wade Oldham just out of high school and continued to live the remainder of their lives in Citrus Heights. They had three children: Earnest, Ida "Sue" and Charlotte. Arlene worked for the Citrus Heights Post Office for 26 years.
Arlene was predeceased by her husband Wade, parents Earl and Amanda Smith, siblings Lewis Smith; Earlene Hanaway, Lester Smith; Bessie Lou Metz; William Edward Smith, her grandchildren Stacy Wells; Wade William Oldham; Forrest Leamon, and great-grandchildren Steven and Christina Wells. Arlene is survived by her son Earnest Oldham (Elizabeth), daughter Ida "Sue" Leamon (Richard), and daughter Charlotte Scott (Brian, deceased.) She had 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. Arlene was lovingly cared for during her final years by her granddaughter Peri Oldham and her good friend Glenda Olinger.
A viewing will be held at Lambert's Funeral Home on June 28th at 11 AM until 1 PM at 400 Douglas Blvd, Roseville, CA followed by a private family burial. There will be a memorial service for all family and friends on July 16th at 10 AM at the Pioneer Baptist Church, 7600 Old Auburn Rd, Citrus Heights. Burial will be next to her husband in the Sylvan Cemetery in Citrus Heights, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to the Pioneer Baptist Church.
