Mitsuko Aoki Obituary

Mitsuko "Mitsy" Aoki, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully at her home April 14, at the age of 94. Mitsy was born in Vina, Ca in 1922, she was the third of five children. The family later moved to a small farm in Clarksburg where she was raised, and graduated from Clarksburg High School. This is where she met her husband of 73 years, Yorio Aoki of Woodland. They were married in 1942 and that same year were interned to Amache, Colorado. After returning to Woodland they settled on the ranch and into the community where she raised three active sons. Over the years Mitsy enjoyed many activities including bowling, playing golf, gardening, traveling, flower arranging, cooking and most of all entertaining friends and family. Mitsy was a fabulous cook and her signature dish was her famous "enchiladas". Her love of gardening eventually led to her studying the art of Ikebana flower arranging which she used to create many award winning arrangements. Over the years Misty and Yorio traveled to many parts of the world always coming home with great memories and lots of souvenirs. Mitsy is survived by her brother Yosh Uyeoka, sister Jean Akiyama, sons, Leonard (Sandy), Ken (Jody), and Darrell (Heidi), grandchildren, Candace (Rob) , Brandon, Lori, Stacy (Curtis), Danielle (Reid), Tosh ( Keri), and Katie, great grandchildren, Annie, Lexi, Jake, Justin, Devyn, and Emery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jota and Jetsuye Uyeoka, husband Yorio Aoki, sisters, Hazel Kimura and Sadako Hirata. A memorial service will be held at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento, 2401 Riverside Blvd., on Saturday May 6, at 1PM, followed by a reception at Fat's Restaurant, 1015 Front Street, Old Sacramento. Donations can be made to Yolo Hospice, or the Donor's favorite Charity.
