Morrell Wise

WISE, Morrell ''Morry'' May 25, 1948 to October 4, 2014 Morry was born and raised in Sacramento, where he met, married, and was a loving husband to Sharon for 44 years. He was a devoted and adoring father to Matthew and father-in-law to Jocelyn. After honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Morry studied and earned a degree in Fine Art from UC Davis and Sacramento State. Following a long career as art director at the Sacramento Union and Sacramento Bee newspapers, he returned to school and then worked at the CA Department of Transportation. Morry was a talented artist, musician, teacher, and book author with a deep love of the outdoors. He is remembered by all for his gentle nature, wonderful sense of humor, incredible kindness, natural creativity, and integrity - but most of all, his love of family. He passed away surrounded by family on October 4 from acute leukemia. He was the beloved son of Robert and Karma and younger brother to Bob. He is also survived by sister-in-law Mercedes, mother-in-law Delane, and nieces and nephews Michael, Rebeca, and Sean. We will miss him dearly. A memorial service honoring our dear Morry will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 9:30 am at the Crocker Art Museum Setzer Auditorium, 216 O Street.
