THOMAS, Nora Edna
Our mother passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on July 14, 2011. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 16, 1926, and has lived in California since 1953. She was able to spend 55 years of marriage to her husband, Ernest Thomas before he passed away in 2001. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Patricia Thomas and her significant other Archie Mathews of Folsom, her son Edward Thomas and his wife Marsha of El Dorado, son Joe Thomas of Carmichael, and son Dennis Thomas of Great Bend, Kansas; her granddaughter, Jennifer Canaris and her husband Brian of San Diego, CA, her grandson Clint Thomas and his wife Karen of Newark, CA, her grandson Keith Thomas and his wife Cristina of Roseville, and Wesley Thomas of Sacramento; her four great-grand children, Brandon and Matthew Canaris of San Diego, Desmond Thomas of Newark, and Evan Thomas of Roseville and her two surviving sisters, June Rychalski and her husband Richard of Helena, Montana, and Wilma Pullis of Montgomery, Alabama.
First and foremost, our mother was a homemaker and devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She retired from the San Juan Unified School District in 1988. She was an avid reader of books on spiritual growth, enjoyed long walks, crocheting, and doing volunteer work for several different organizations. She loved hosting family holiday dinners.
All family and friends are welcome to join us in a memorial service celebrating her life with memories and some of her favorite foods (pizza and chocolate cake) on Friday, July 22, 2011, at the Foothill Community Park 5510 Diablo Drive at 5p.m.
