Paul Sapunar Obituary

Paul Sapunar
April 29, 1926 - August 28, 2021
Folsom, California - Paul J Sapunar's life's story is quintessentially American. Born on a tiny island in what is now Croatia, he was the oldest son of six children. At the age of 11 he was sent on a solo global odyssey to Sacramento to live with his uncle.
Paul served in combat as an infantryman on Okinawa during World War II and later in the Korean War where he was wounded in action. After his military service, Paul met his wife Lorraine and got a job with CalTrans where he worked for 36 years. He has lived in Rancho Murieta since 1986. Paul was an avid golfer, gardener, card player, fisherman, and cook. Paul was always honest, fiercely loyal, immensely generous, and a devoted friend. Those who know him were fortunate to have him in their lives. May we all be lucky enough to serve our friends, family, and country as well as he did.
Paul is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lorraine, his daughter and son-in-law Paula & Alex Bauer, his nieces and their husbands Fanica & Ray Trice and Katica & Keenen Kroll, and an extended group of friends and family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Funeral services are scheduled for September 21 at 11:30am at St. Vincent De Paul Church in Rancho Murieta.
