Penny Standley Obituary

STANDLEY, Penny
Penny Standley left us on January the 14th. We that are left behind choose to remember her as a loving lass with a quick Irish wit. Her realm was her kitchen. All were welcome. A good meal and a pleasant chat were there for all that wished to take the time. Our mother, sister, and friend was preceded by her husband Doyle and has left a son, a brother, and many adopted sisters behind to see her off. We are happy Penny is free of her tired and worn body. Her advice will be missed, but we all know she is happier with Doyle and will hold a place for us at her kitchen table in Heaven. Come join us to say goodbye at Miller's Funeral Home in Folsom on Jan. 22nd at 2:00 PM. Arrangements by
Miller Funeral Home.

It seems like we spoke on the telephone only a few days ago. It always feels that way when we talk; whether it was over tea, coffee or one of your incredible, homemake, has everything in it soups.

I can't believe you are with Doyle. You never let on anything was wrong.

The sadest part for me is that you were raised to be such a "lady", always "the lady" and yet you never got to wear the life style of "the lady" you always were.

The last time I was at your home, just before moving out of California you sent me home with a huge container of the soup you had been making with a pretty napkin under it so as not to mess up the seats in my car. I still have that napkin that doesn't match anything I have but that I pull out to remember to call you.

Now I can never hear your voice again. I know you were tired. I know your heart was heavy. I know you were there for everyone, even me. I know you fulfilled a greater purpose than you could have possibly known when you told me to tell my Mom it was okay to go home to the Lord.

How I will never forget the Penny of Junior High but especially not the tender hearted, wise woman Penny became when we stuck around to find out.

I love you Penny and will always count you as a dear, very dear friend as an adult, when it really counted.

Thank you, Penny for being Penny; no matter what!!!!
