Richard MANDONCA Obituary
MANDONCA, Richard Henry
Was born October 13, 1943, in Sacramento, CA and died May 2, 2011, in Wilton, CA. His parents, Lil and Henry Mandonca, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, his son Rick Jr. (Tabitha), his much loved and loving grandchildren (Ricky III and Eden), his sisters (Mary Lou and Barbara), and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
After serving in the US Army from 1963-65, Rich was a Sacramento City Firefighter and Engineer for 30 years before retiring in 1997. Besides family, his passions were car racing and restoring old Chevrolets. Visitiation will be at HERBERGER'S ELK GROVE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 9101 ELK GROVE BLVD. ELK GROVE, CA on May 12, 2011 from 12-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., and a funeral mass will be held on May 13, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Grove, 9961 ELK GROVE-FLORIN ROAD, ELK GROVE, CA at 10:30 a.m., with a reception to follow. The family encourages attendees to wear racing t-shirts or golf shirts in honor of Rich's favorite hobbies. Burial will be private at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sacramento Firefighters Burn Institute at 3823 V Street Sacramento, CA 95817, (916) 739-8525.

Hello Diane,
Please accept my sincere condolences. I still remember the fun water skiing trips and the Chevy tours we did together. Rich was one of the most kind and generous people I have had the pleasure to know. He will be truly missed.

Diane & Family, I was saddened to hear of Rich's sudden passing. However, seeing his picture here made me smile as I remembered all the fun times with old Chevys and water skiing. We made lots of good memories together and I hope those memories get you through this difficult time. He was truly a great friend and I'm going to miss him.

Diane, our heavy hearts are with you in this time of loss. Our thoughts and prayers are many. Our memories are full of fun and friendship. What a wonderful guy, gosh we had the laughs and watched about a 100,000 laps of sprint car racing and just as many Buds. May you and the kids be blessed with Rich's memories. We will all miss him.

My sympathies go out to the family. Although I have not seen Richard for many, many years I still remember all of the wonderful times at Richards parents house when we were teenagers.
