I first met Rich on a hot August day on the grassy field behind Oakmont along with the other boys from Rocklin and Folsom. It was the first day of football and the guys were grouped with the boys they knew staying within a comfort zone on this new experience. I, like I´m sure the others were, was excited at this first meeting with the strangers who we would form a team with. I remember that Rich stood out. He looked like a big athletic kid that needed to grow into his hands and feet. We all became fast friends who loved to have fun playing endless pranks on one another and testing the boundaries of the adult world. We cared about one another, hung out together, and experienced many first time adventures together.
The time we spent together in the time that boys become men created the bonds of brothers. After high school we went the ways that life takes us, many far and apart. However, the bonds we made left a piece of each of us in the others. Certainly Rich is a part of me and I will never forget.
I regret that I couldn´t go to Rich´s memorial. I am unfortunately grounded from travel by forces beyond my control. Best wishes for all who attend.

Such a fun kid in high school. He was always in a good mood and he had the BEST laugh. Great football player for the Vikings! Went to work at a young age, he was a hard worker. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I have only seen Rich one time since we graduated from High School almost 50 years ago, but I will always remember his laugh. I was looking forward to hearing that laugh at our reunion next year but I am sorry to hear that won't be happening.

I first met Rich when he moved to Rocklin from Alabama when we were in 8th grade.
We became good friends because it was hard not to be a friend of his.
He was a gifted athlete and was "country boy strong".
He had a heart as big as his laugh.
He will be missed.

Sorry to see this. Went to grammar school and high school with Rich. He was a gentle giant and always funny. RIP Rich
