JONES, Rick A.
A longtime resident of Orangevale, CA passed away at home on February 11, 2013 at the age of 59. Rick fought a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.
Rick was born in Sacramento, CA to James Jones Sr. and the late Martha Sandidge Jones. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Dale, father James and stepmother Ada Jones, sons; Rickey (Tracy), Michael, and grandchildren; Elizabeth, Andrew, and Nicholas. He was a loving brother to James Jones Jr., and the late Edwin Jones. He graduated from Bella Vista High School and University of San Francisco. Rick had a short career as a Reserve Sheriff's Deputy for Sacramento before realizing his dream Fire Fighting with The Fair Oaks Fire District where he served from 1977 to 1993 when he was forced to retire due to his battle with MS. Above all, Rick loved his family and was a dedicated husband and father. He was a very kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humor.
The family wishes to thank his caregiver, Victor, for his loving and compassionate service to Rick over the past six years.
A private memorial service will held for Rick.

My husband, Michael McElroy Sr., Ricks cousin, passed away on May 15,2019 from lung cancer. Our family has been grieving for him as your family has grieved for Rick. Upon learning of my dear cousins passing, my wife's and my hearts are broken. I will always remember our younger lives together. We were only 9 months apart and played together regularly. We send our love and condolences to Dale, Rickey, Michael, and grandchildren. We know he is missed; but know that he is at peace with The Lord, All of our love Michael and Carolyn

Rick was a dear friend to Reed and I. Even when things became the most difficult, he still had his sense of humor. I will miss that guy.

Sorry to hear of Rick's passing. It has been a number of years since I have seen him but treasure knowing him. I still remember his riding his elec cart over to Taco Bell.

My brothe-law was so funny and humerous. I wish I could have there more for him. He was a wonderful and deticated husband for my sister as she was for him. He will be greatly missed in our family. Rick Jones not only was a wonderful husband and great Dad, he was a dedicated friend. He had a great laugh and we were very close as we raised our young families. He was a true example of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was our missionary hero that assisted in our family becoming an Eternal Family. My heart is sadden for Dale, Ricky, and Michael's loss, but with the knowledge that families can be together forever it gives us hope. Dale, Ricky, & Michael you and your extended family are in our thoughts and prayers.
