I met Bob over 40 years ago when we became roommates at San Felipe boys home in Bakersfield and was a close friend til his death. He was someone I described to others as the most positive person I knew. I admired his faith. I will never get over his passing and the hole it left in my life. Love you Bob...you too Ray.

I was not fortunate enough to know Bob in life. However, I did somehow end up with a huge amount of his personal photos and letters. I found out about his passing while trying to track him down to return his property. If anyone of his family or friends reads this and knows what to do with his belongings, please contact me at 916-531-7468 or "[email protected]" I will save these things as long as I can.

I just found out recently.I only knew Bob from the gym but it was always fun to see him and talk sports and even some politics. I actually got myself to the gym more often in the hopes of running into him!
REALLY gonna miss him.The world is a lesser place without his constant smile. My condolences to his family.

It is with a very saddened heart that I write this remembrance of my longtime friend and former teammate Bobby Blee Belancik . I've known Bob since we were around 11 years old. We grew up just a few blocks away from each other in the Riverview homes projects in West Mifflin. Bob and I became friends when we became teammates on a Little League baseball team . Bob was the starting shortstop and I was a starting first baseman. That would remain the same thru each league that we played in for the next 7 years. Through Pony League, Colt League, the West Mifflin North High School baseball team, and the American Legion baseball team. I believe anyone that played in those leagues would agree that Bob was one of the best fielding and hitting shortstops of that era. In addition to being a great baseball player and fan of the game, Bob was also a big fan of the Steelers. I met up with Bob at the Super Bowl in Pasadena in January of 1980 when the Steelers beat the Rams. Another thing that Bob and I shared was a love of the rock music of the great bands of the 70s such as The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and artists like Eric Clapton and many more. I know Bob attended many of the great rock concerts in Pittsburgh in the 70s. The Led Zeppelin show in 1973 at three rivers and the Eric Clapton show in 74 at Three Rivers. Bob and I also met up when the Rolling Stones played Dodger Stadium in the 90s. Bob and kept in touch, and we were able to get together from time to time over the years. One of my last remembrances is when Bob visited me about 15 years ago. I just purchased a new APBA baseball game. APBA is game that many of us played for hours and hours over two or three summers when we were kids back in the day. But that evening It was kind of funny, because it had been so long that we struggled to remember how the game was actually played. However we had a great time reminiscing and laughing about all the crazy kids in the neighborhood, and those summer days when baseball was such an important part of our young lives. I will miss having my old friend Blee in this world, but I hope that someday we'll get to take the field once again, in that great baseball diamond in the sky...

From Kinzy (walt Bacik). Half of my childhood memories involved "BLEE". Playing little league, Pony league and American legion baseball. Hanging out in the projects (tic tacking), hanging out at stop & go, Edison parking lot, Emerson tunnel, baseball field Edison, rock city, the dump, keg parties at the derrick, swimming in the Mon and catching the third bus from Edison. Death always brings back golden memories. Blee rest in peace. Thanks for the great memories.

I Love You Bob...
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
Forever in My Heart Childhood Friend

Many years have gone by my old and dear friend and neighbor. We shared many good times growing up together. We knew and loved each other well. You were always in my thoughts and forever shall be. Too soon to say goodbye so I'll just say I'll see you later. Rest in peace.
