Dad, as Dale put it..it's been a year already but it seems like an eternity. You are still a big part of our lives. Often, during the news, we ask "What would Dad say..?" or "Dad would ROLL OVER if he heard that!" We feel you walking through the living room humming like Bing Crosby...the kids always smiled "That's Grandpa!" Mom's heart is empty and broken..she misses you more as time passes but she's a trooper. You would be proud. We're keeping her safe and well. We won't let either of you down. We're still your little girls and always look to you for advise and confort...we just have to ask and wish harder for the answers. We love and miss you.

Grandpa, you're sharp whit and endless ocean of knowledge made our Sacramento visits memorable and entertaining. As one of the many morally strong men in my life you have helped mold my mind and challenge me to never stop learning. After all, you told me that you learned something new everyday, "and that a lot of days of learning." We miss you and will be or forget the small acts of kindness or large chunks of knowledge and life experience we received from visiting you.

Dad, it's been 5 1/2 weeks. Through thick and thin we've held it together. Thanks to your support and planning we've had it easier than most but it's still very hard. I miss you.

Thank you for your service. I'm sorry that we never met, we could have swapped stories. I'm certain that your stories would be much more exciting than mine. May you rest in peace. You are so deserving.

A couple of my favorite memories growing up and having you as my grandfather...
The window wars in your Pontiac. Your 55 had electric windows and you always tried to control mine when I wanted it up or down.
The playful banter between you and grandma, I was always amazed how you both knew so much about words.
Playing with your train set and watching you figure out the electrical system. We both would get bummed when the train got hung up in the mountain.
Your intense dedication to always learning something new. You always set the example for learning; law, the computer, brain games and crossword puzzles.
I have been and forever will be eternally blessed to have you as my grandfather.

I remember when the family moved to Rambler Way and I became friends with Janet (Chris, to me). Sounds like he had a very active, productive life. He will be remembered well by many.

The finest, most intelligent man and first true gentleman I have ever known. I feel so blessed and honored to have been able to call him my grandpa. I'll never forget the times we would visit, we would look outside at the sky and you'd tell me what types of clouds were "Cirrus" or "Altostratus". :) I know you're flying high through those same clouds now and smiling down on all of us. We love you.

Bob was a good guy and helped me with my book. He had at least one interesting story about testing a P-38 postwar for "compressibility" in a steep dive, finally having to use the speed brakes. It would have been impossible to pull out otherwise, he said.

I feel very honored that I was fortunate to meet the man that I've heard so much about for years. What a man of integrity. He is loved by many and will be missed greatly.
