Carmichael, California - Ronald Albert Taylor passed away January 3, 2023 in Carmichael, California after a brief struggle with dementia. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret, his children: Jennifer (Kenny) and Thomas (Heather), and his grandchildren: Matthew and Danielle. He is also survived by his mother, Marie, four siblings: Richard (Michele), John (Suzanne), Elizabeth, Stanley, and 11 nieces and nephews. Ron was born in Chico, California on June 8, 1946 to Harold and Marie Taylor. He spent his early years in Auburn, California. At the age of 9, his family moved to San Lorenzo, California. He attended Arroyo High School, Humboldt State University and California State University, Sacramento. Ron had a great affinity for the outdoors and went on many hiking and camping trips throughout his life. He and Margaret spent summers taking their children on road trips across the western states. Ron began teaching Mathematics in 1969 with the Grant Joint Unified District. He served at Rio Tierra Junior High and later transferred to Rio Linda High School, where he taught until he retired in 2003. His retirement years were spent volunteering regularly at Loaves & Fishes and the Front Street Animal Shelter, gardening, attending Cal Berkeley games, and traveling extensively. Ron and Margaret visited more than 50 countries across all seven continents. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 3235 Pope Ave, Sacramento on Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Northminster Presbyterian Church in his honor.
