Ruby Babcock Obituary

Ruby Lorraine Babcock passed away peacefully at home on January 20th, 2014, from complications brought on by rheumatoid arthritis, which she had battled for many years. Her husband of almost 55 years, Wesley Babcock, was by her side. Born Ruby Lorraine Townsend in Bell, CA, Ruby met Wes in Los Angeles. They were married on Feb 20th, 1959. They had two children, Meredith and Norman, while living in the Los Angeles area. The family moved to Penryn CA in 1968. Ruby was a teacher's aide and president of the parents club at the old Loomis Elementary School during the time her children were enrolled there. Ruby was a loving and devoted housewife, who cherished spending time with family. Her favorite hobbies were tending to her flower gardens, oil painting, various sewing and craft activities, and shopping. As RA robbed her of her physical strength, Ruby became quite the reader of novels and her daily devotional. Ruby seldom ventured outside the house in recent years, but she loved getting her hair styled every Friday at Tangles Hair Salon in Auburn. Thanks to Liz and Rosemary for taking such good care of Ruby these past few years, and making these Friday trips so special. Ruby was preceded in death by her father Joseph Clyde Townsend. She is survived by her loving husband Wesley Babcock, daughter Meredith Forcier (Steve), son Norman Babcock (Julie), mother Margaret Townsend, brother Terry Townsend (Cora), six grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and many other relatives and friends. A private service was held with family and close friends in attendance.
