Sacramento, California - Ruby Jane Smith, lifelong resident of Sacramento, passed away November 1, 2022 at the age of 83. She was born April 8, 1939. Ruby was born and raised in Taneyville, Missouri. Later in her young years she moved to Sacramento, Ca., her parents were Barney Allen Reynolds and Fay Simmons-Reynolds. Ruby once had her own business "Hairstyles by Ruby" which she ran with her own intuition out of her own home. Ruby worked for the duration of her life for the State of California. She began around 1966 and retired in 2004. Her state worker career began with :Fish & Game, Division of Highways, Caltrans; and retired with the State teachers Retirement Association. Ruby was a devoted mother to her only son, Roy Gerald Smith. She was also a loving and devoted grandmother to her two grandchildren, Michael and Paige Smith. Her Husband Passed away January 30, 2015, Roy Smith Sr. owned and operated one of Elk Groves first successful restaurants from 1974 - 1987, The Destiny. She is survived by her son Gerald, and her grandchildren Michael and Paige. Ruby was Laid to rest at a private family graveside service. W. F. Gormley and Sons, Funeral Directors Since 1897.
