Sandra Gallardo Obituary

Granite Bay, CA Sandra J. Gallardo "Sandy", 79, succumbed to her long battle with Parkinson's disease on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Sandra passed away at her home. She is survived by daughter Carrie Geib, son Craig Bechthold, grandchildren Molly (Brad) Cotton and Jared Bechthold, and two great-granddaughters. Her husband preceded her in death just six months ago. She leaves behind many close friends and family members that will miss her dearly. Born and raised in Stockton, CA, she was the only child of Jack and Ellen LaFontaine. After graduating from Stockton High and Stockton College, Sandra moved to Sacramento to attend Sacramento State where she earned her teaching degree. She spent most of her career in the Folsom-Cordova School District, teaching first and second grades in Rancho Cordova, then going to Folsom where she opened many of the new elementary schools as principal. She then went to the district office as Director of Elementary Education. She retired in 2000 and was deeply honored when the district announced they would name a school after her. Growing up, Sandy was active in Job's Daughters. She later joined the Sigma Alpha Sigma sorority and was still a member of the loving sisterhood. Throughout her life she was active in many other organizations where she loved to be with friends and have a good time. A public memorial service will be held Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 6365 Douglas Blvd, Granite Bay, CA. Private interment will follow at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a children's organization of your choice.

I will always remember Sandy as my second grade teacher, and later, as principal of my children's elementary school. I feel so blessed that she was part of my life. "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

I knew Sandy in Stockton. Her parents played cards with my parents. I was also in Jobs Daughters. She helped with the education of one of my grandsons.

I was fortunate to know Sandy while I was in High School and always found her to be witty and charming. She was full of life and I am a better person for having known her. She is at peace, and of course now her and Joe are together again! Prayers for her Daughter and Son and extended family. Our prayers are with you.
