Sandy Lang

1944 - 2018

Born Mary Sandra Kilpatrick on February 25, 1944 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas to Betty Lou and Chester Kilpatrick, passed away on January 15, 2018 just short of her 74th birthday following a brave three-year battle against pancreatic cancer. Survived by her husband Bob Lang, sons Patrick Blackburn, Alan Blackburn (Linda), grandson Daniel Ivarie-Blackburn, and sister Betsy Holden. Preceded by her parents and brother "Pat" Kilpatrick. Raised in Carmichael, graduated from La Sierra Sr. High, attended Chico State College, and graduated from National University. Sandy was a career technician at American River College where she helped establish the college career center before beginning her own career as a patient's rights advocate and ombudsman. She then joined the Sacramento County Pubic Guardians office as a Deputy Public Guardian and retired in 2009. Sandy also found time to be an antique dealer, but her real passions were her family and friends, gardening, and her ongoing redecorating projects. She particularly enjoyed planning events with Bob in their home and entertaining friends and family. A celebration will be held at the Casa Garden, 2760 Sutterville Road from 11am-2pm on Saturday, March 3rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandy's name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, to Sutter Care at Home, or to an organization of your choice.
