Sharon Rogers Obituary

Sharon Lee Rogers (April 30, 1941 - December 9, 2012) died at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center on Sunday from complications of lung cancer. She was a life-long resident of Sacramento, the daughter of David Pelton Dolson II and Marion Cassandra Cabral. Sharon attended local elementary schools and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1958. For a number of years, she was a homemaker but later worked at several retail establishments such as California Apparel, owned by former Sacramento Mayor, Clarence Azevedo, and Ben Franklin Variety. These stores were located in the Fruitridge Manor Shopping Center. Eventually Sharon had a career with the California Department of Transportation and retired from that agency after 23 years of service. Sharon is survived by her daughters Tamara L. Cheung (Raymond), Kimberly A. Fisher (Douglas Okumura), and her son, Jimmie L. Rogers Jr. She will be missed by her brother, David P. Dolson III (Miriam), her daughter-in-law, Claire Rogers, and seven grandchildren: Christine Rogers, Cody Rogers, Curtis Rogers, Christopher Cheung, Steven Cheung, Joey Doumit, and Amanda Doumit. She also leaves behind her former husband, Jimmie L. Rogers Sr., and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. At Sharon's request, no funeral or memorial services will be held. Her ashes will be scattered according to her wishes. Memorial contributions in Sharon's name may be made to (lungcanceralliance.org) or to another organization of choice.

I worked with Sharon at Caltrans for several years as a co-worker and later as her supervisor. Throughout Sharon was always a friend. She was a wise caring woman with a great sense of humor, good to everyone. She was the one who everyone went to for motherly advise or a shoulder to cry on. Sharon has moved on now and we will miss her, but she will always live in her hearts. My sincere condolences.
