Sonja Fair Obituary
Born and raised in Montana, Sonja moved to California after graduating from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. She spent many years teaching in the Grant Unified School District and was admired for her kindness, humor, and dedication to her students.
After retiring, Sonja and her partner, Gary Johnson, traveled the world, forming lasting friendships wherever they went. A devoted animal lover, especially of Miniature Schnauzers, Sonja also generously supported many charitable organizations. Her sharp wit and humor-especially as her alter ego, Blanche Oglethorpe-brought joy to all who knew her.
She and her parents made lasting contributions to the Billings Catholic Schools Foundation Education Trust, where they are honored on the Fred & Olivia Briggs–Sonja Fair Memorial.
A Mass will be held in her honor on November 16th at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Carmichael.
