Steven Balog Obituary

BALOG, Steven J.
Born January 21, 1916 in Huntsburg, Ohio. Our loving father passed away on April 8, 2004 in Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife Bette and sister Elizabeth Paizs. He is survived by his daughters Claudia Cox and Vickie Balog-Petrakos; grandchildren Christopher Cox, Jonathan and Stephanie Petrakos; nephew Bob Paizs and nieces Camille Daily and Priscilla Warddrip; and his beloved little dog, Jake. After graduating from Ohio State University with a degree in engineering, he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He and Bette were married in Massachusetts in 1946. In 1948 they moved to Pittsburgh, CA, where he worked for Fiberboard Corporation. In the early '60s he moved the family to Sacramento and worked at Aerojet in Rancho Cordova while helping build the family business, the Ko-Ko-Mo Inn and Restaurant, which he operated from the mid '60s to 1979, when he retired. In 1983 he and Bette began vacationing in the Crescent City area where they ultimately retired. Steve lived there until 2002 when he moved back to Sacramento to be closer to his family. He loved gardening, fishing, woodworking, watching the stock market and passing his life's lessons on to his family. He will be greatly missed. At Steve's request, there will be no services.

Our family has enjoyed many memories with each other. It will be harder with a member passing in a physical sense. But, he will always linger with us in spirit annd we will always enjoy sharing memories of him.

Niece,
