Susie Jones passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the age of 52 following a courageous battle with cancer. Susie was full of life and loved being surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Tom Jones, son Hayden, and daughter Kate. Susie was predeceased by brother Andrew Solomon. She is survived by her parents Lew and Linda Solomon of Fresno, CA, as well as brothers Jeff Solomon and wife Carolyn of Wilsonville, OR, and Jim Solomon and wife Melissa of Fresno, CA. She also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews. Born Susan Kay Solomon in Bakersfield, CA, Susie was popular and could light up a room. She attended Fresno's Bullard High School and later graduated from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo prior to her teaching career. Susie loved kids and touched many young lives over the years. Her main passions were being a mother and amazing wife and teaching at Sutterville Preschool for 16 years. Making memories with her husband, family, and friends; supporting her kids' sports teams, taking trips, and spending time in Cayucos were among the highlights of her life. Supporting the Holy Spirit Church, the Gals Adventure Club, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Book Club, and Christian Brothers High School was always important to her. A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Spirit Church, 3159 Land Park Drive, Sacramento, CA, 95818 at 11am on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Interment will be private, but Celebration of Life Reception will following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be sent in her name to Sutterville Preschool Scholarship Fund at 5520 Gilgunn Way, Sacramento, CA, 95822. Arrangements by W.F. Gormley & Sons.

Receiving two cards at our Spruce Avenue home today, meant for and addressed to Lew & Linda, made me do a search to confirm what my heart was feeling... Scott and I are filled with sadness for reading of such a loss as you are experiencing in losing your Susan Kay. I spent three very formative years with the hilarious, beautiful and kind Susie Solomon. In high school, while most of us endeavored to mask our insecurities, Susie would call them out--always with compassion and humor, and usually by starting with herself. I only realized years later what a great gift that was. My treasured memories of our gang's adventures and antics are a salve in this very sad time. Rest, old friend.
