Theodore Dominick Obituary
DOMINICK, Theodore S.
Born in Racine, Wisc., on September 28, 1919, he passed away in Sacramento on February 7, 2008. His parents, Rose Shugar and Thomas Dominick, were Sicilian immigrants to the U.S. Rose was an infant at the time of immigration and Thomas was a young man when he arrived here. Besides his parents, Ted's family consisted of seven brothers and sisters and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ted grew up in Riverside and Sacramento, Calif., attending schools in those areas. In 1940, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, eventually fighting in WWII in Italy. He was proud to say that he had served under General Mark Clark, and if asked would comment on the rigors of being an infantryman during the war. In 1945, Ted was granted an honorable discharge from the service. Ted returned to Ontario, Calif., after his discharge and then moved to Sacramento, where he was employed at the Crystal Creamery. One of the last jobs he held there was that of truck dispatcher. After thirty years of service, he retired. In 1968 he married Mary Clark and together they raised Mary's grandson Greg and Ted's son Ronnie. After the death of his wife, Ted remained a source of support for his son and grandson. He will be remembered as a man who did his best by his family despite very challenging circumstances, and his son and grandson will sorely miss him. Ted enjoyed baseball, football, visiting his friends and was a huge fan of horse racing. His all-time favorite pitcher was Juan Marichal, and his favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers. His son and grandson say that he was also a very good cook who never failed to prepare a daily dinner for them to share.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, wife Mary and son Theodore Jr. He leaves behind several nephews, one niece, great nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.
