William Cates Obituary

CATES, William "Bill"
Beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at age 51 on December 31, 2004, after a 24-year struggle with melanoma cancer. Born February 4, 1953. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ann and Hal Cates. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lizzie Cates-Gentry and Todd Gentry; his loving "Mom" Eleanor Cates, and brothers, Mike, Joe, (Stacey), John (Christy) and sisters, Mimi Medeiros (Bill), Kathy Bense (Bob) and Joanie Ross ; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was a very special God Father to Barbara Bense. He was a graduate of the 1971 class of Jesuit High School and will always be remembered for his sense of humor and free spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 8 at Presentation Church, 3100 Norris Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presentation School Scholarship and Memorial Fund, 3100 Norris Avenue, Sacramento 95821, or the charity of your choice.
