William Ramsay Hogle

1928 - 2018

July 9, 2018 William Ramsay Hogle was born on March 6, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan and passed July 9, 2018 in Jackson, California. Ramsay, as he was known, served in the US Navy. In 1948 he married Phyllis Payne Meyer, in New York City. They raised 4 children together, eventually settling in Saratoga, California. Later in life, Ramsay moved to Sutter Creek, California, where he lived until his passing. Ramsay was a kind and gentle man. All of the critters, wild and domesticated, knew his house was the place to find love and treats. He loved reading and learning, far preferring a book or a science magazine over a television show. Ramsay was tragically preceded in death by his son, Chris Hogle, on March 2, 2018. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Polly, Nina, and Lyn, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and his long time companion Shirley Konze. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.
