William Oser Obituary

OSER, William (Bill) Howard
A native Californian, born in San Francisco on 02/25/23, passed on 8/14/08 after a year of failing health. He was a 3 year veteran of the US Navy, where he was stationed on the East Coast. He will be remembered by his public school teaching and administrative duties. Bill began his career in education in 1950 at Rio Linda Elementary School. Bill was highly respected by the public school staff and loved by his students, as he moved on to administrative duties. He served as a consultant to Sacramento and Yolo county schools. He completed his educational career in Winters, after establishing a continuation high school. Bill received his BA and MA in the first graduating class at the CA State University, Sacramento. During summer sessions, he served as a demonstration teacher at Freddie Burke, San Francisco State University. He received his masters in both education and art. Indeed, he was an artist himself. During his summer vacations he was a world traveler, collecting art, artifacts and antiques. His interest in art led him to the Crocker Art Museum, where he became a member of the Crocker Art Service Group, serving as Co and fulltime Chairman for the major funding event (antique show). Those who knew him closely will miss his counsel, guidance and his Jack Benny sense of humor. Bill is survived by his long term companion of 50+ years, Fred Sinclair, 2 lovely daughters, Candice and Felicia, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his brother, Don and nephew Mark. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Crocker Art Museum in his memory.
