Shirley Fluent Obituary
Born March 8, 1953, in Salamanca, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Shirley Stull Leder.
She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1971. She also graduated from Jamestown Community College where she received her LPN in nursing.
Shirley had been employed as a nurse with Home Health Care, Olean, for several years and also as a hospice nurse, retiring in 2005.
She enjoyed spending time with loved ones and will be remembered for her creativity and sweet, gentle spirit. She was a compassionate, loving person who was adored by her family. She was an avid reader, scrabble and Dominoes player who loved her pets, Gidget and Charlie. Shirley created beautiful wood-burned art that her family will treasure. She wrote beautifully and was gifted in quilling and alcohol ink art. She was the anchor in our family who stood firm in support of those she loved.
Surviving are a daughter, Jody (Michael) Taborski of Crown-Point, Ind.; two sons, Bradley Fluent and Scott Fluent, both of Jamestown; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (Lorna) Leder of Kill Buck and Christopher Leder, Missoula, Mont.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, infant Mary Leder and beloved Rosemary Shadden, and her ex-husband, Chuck Fluent.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (May 25, 2024) at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, at which time funeral services will be held.
Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley.
