Carlota S. Dominguez, age 86, passed away in Rancho Cucamonga on Nov. 11, 2021. She was born on Sept. 12, 1935 in Swastika, N.M., a mining town whose name was changed to Brilliant No. 2 in the 1940's. She migrated the southwestern states with her family harvesting a variety of crops before she and her family settled in Soledad. In 1958, she married her loving husband, Jose S. Dominguez. At the time of Jose's death in 1994, they had been married for 35 years. They raised six sons and two daughters in Soledad. She and her husband worked in the carrot fields in the Salinas Valley and followed the crop south to the Imperial Valley six months out of the year. In the late 1980's, she left the fields and began work at Fresh Express Co. in Salinas until she retired. Carlota was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She established and cultivated great relationships in the Soledad community and truly loved her town. She loved God's Word and was a faithful Christian until her passing. Carlota was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers and sisters; and husband, Jose Dominguez. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Fernandez and Virginia Martinez; and sons Robert, Carlos, Ricky, Rudy, Jesse, and Gus Dominguez. She had 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
