Mrs. Annie Bell Winders Grubb, 101, of Salisbury, NC passed away peacefully September 25, 2021, with her family by her side at Trinity Oaks. She was born on March 6th, 1920, in Salisbury, NC to William and Mary Koontz Winders. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Winders Sigmon and Francis “Pixie” Winders, and her brothers Gilbert, Robert, and Marshall Winders. Her daughter, Dr. Phyllis Grubb Lee Prescott, and grandson, Bradley Shawn Lee, also preceded her in death. Annie Bell is survived by her daughter Kay Grubb Jones (Larry). Her grandchildren Carla Jones Sprinkle (Paul) and Brian Jones and great-grandchildren Katelyn and Gracie Sprinkle, and Berkli, Sauyer, and Landon Jones and several nieces and nephews. Annie Bell grew up in Salisbury and married John Ray “Bill” Grubb Jr. on October 7th, 1938. After Bill came home from World War II, they built their home in Spencer where they raised their daughters. Later they moved to Salisbury and then to Larry and Kay's family farm on High Rock Lake. They were married for 62 years before he passed away in 2000. Her family brought her great joy throughout the years, with her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren all living nearby. Annie Bell loved long walks on the farm with her cats and dogs. Annie Bell was blessed with good health. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She enjoyed making her clothes and her daughter's wedding dresses. She credited her faith, friends, family and staying active for a long, fulfilling life. She loved all sports, especially the Atlanta Braves. She continued participating in bowling league competitions until she was 96 years old, often being high scorer for her league. Annie Bell was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for 65 years and sang in the choir. A special day for Annie Bell was a celebration of her 100th birthday held in her honor March 6, 2020, at Trinity Oaks. It was filled with smiles and love. Service: The family will receive friends at Summersett Funeral Home in Salisbury from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 30, 2021. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Summersett. Burial will immediately follow at Rowan Memorial Park. Memorial: In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Bradley Shawn Lee; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
