Barry Alexander Corriher, 74, of China Grove entered the Church Triumphant on Sept. 26, 2021. His beloved family is devastated by his sudden and unexpected death. Born March 5, 1947, Barry was the son of the late Crawford Hale Corriher and Edith Beaver Corriher. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ. Barry was a 1965 graduate of South Rowan High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1969, and attended Western Carolina University. He worked for Fiber, then spent the majority of his career with IBM in Charlotte as an integration manager. After he left IBM, he worked for Salisbury Fire Appliance for eight years. He was a life member of Bostian Heights Fire Department, serving since 1978. He was assistant chief for 13 years. When he retired from the fire department, he served on its board of directors until his death. He was the department's Firefighter of the Year in 1985. Barry was a member of the North Carolina Rural Letter Carriers' Association Auxiliary, holding a variety of offices including president, vice president and board member. In 2013, he was Member of the Year. On Sept. 25, 1965, he married Sally Beck Corriher. Because they married so young, they waited one year before they told their parents. They celebrated their anniversary the day before he died. Barry and Sally are the parents of three sons, Mark Alexander Corriher (Stacy), Jason Reid Corriher (Julie), and Adam Thomas Corriher (Stewart Clement). They have eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Barry is also survived by his brother Lanny (Carolyn) Corriher, and his sister, Carol C. King, along with a number of nieces and nephews. In 1976, Barry and Sally built their home next to his parents. Away from his jobs, he helped his father work their farm. Together, they ran a saw mill, and their specialty was raising watermelons and cantaloupes. Barry loved the land and his family. He has held an original personal seat license (PSL) since the Carolina Panthers' inaugural season in 1995. Arrangements: His funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 30 at Whitley's Funeral Home chapel conducted by the Rev. Rodney Efird. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 29. Memorials: to FFA or Marching Band Booster Club of South Rowan, South Rowan High School @1655 Patterson St. China Grove, NC 28023 “In quarters, assignment complete. We have the watch.”

Sally, words cannot describe how we feel about your loss. Distance has kept us apart since graduation, but you have been in my heart with much love since you took me to church when I was real young. We will all be together on Heaven one day. God be with you and your whole family and give you His Love, Peace & Comfort.

Sally and family, We are so, so sorry to hear of Barry's passing. He was a hard working, trustworthy and kind gentleman. Above all, he was a good Godly man. We became friends through the North Carolina Rural Letter Carrier's Auxiliary and he quickly became a key member of our program. Always dependable and supportive of our projects and the Junior's program. I am going to really miss our conversations. I am sure Leo Wagoner and Charles Adams were there to greet him when he arrived on High. Miss Harriett might even have been there ready to sign him up for a job! Love and prayers to all of the family. Charles & Sarah Stewart
