Constance York Obituary

Constance E. Kelly York, affectionately known as “Candy,” passed away on Dec. 31, 2022. Born in Salisbury on June 17, 1953. Candy was the daughter of Rebecca Elizabeth Witherspoon Kelly and John Frank Kelly. She attended Price Junior High School and graduated from Salisbury High School in 1971. Constance then received her undergraduate and master's degrees in Speech Pathology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Constance dedicated her life to caring for others, both as a mother to her three children and as a speech-language pathologist. She assisted with various business ventures, including opening practices, property management, and more. In her later years, Constance gave back to the Winston-Salem and Forsyth County school systems, working as a substitute teacher. Constance was deeply committed to her faith, actively working in ministry for over 30 years as a pastor, counselor, and mentor to people of all ages. She was also instrumental in planting churches around the state. Constance was a multifaceted individual whose gifts and talents extended beyond the pulpit. She wrote songs, books, and other ministry training materials and always believed that her life's purpose was to serve the Lord and help others fulfill their calling. Constance is survived by her children, Jarrett Matthew York (Sandra), Kelli Ryanne York, and John Carrington York (Ava); as well as one granddaughter, Sarah. She is also survived by her brothers, James C. Kelly (Patricia) and Michael F. Kelly; her sisters, Linda J. Kelly and Bridgette T. Kelly; cousin, Dawn Darbone; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, church family, and friends. Arrangements: Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at St. Peter's Church & World Outreach Center. The family visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church. Online condolences can be made at www.russellfuneralservice.com (RUSSELL)
