Darrell Galloway

Darrell Galloway, 80, of Rockwell, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024.

He was born June 21, 1943, in Enochville, to the late Toy and Mazalee Chapman Galloway. A member of First Baptist Church of Gold Hill, he loved the Lord and shared his faith with others. Darrell attended East Rowan High School and opened Darrell's Bar-B-Q in Rockwell, in 1981, and operated it until his retirement. He was active in his community and served on the Board of Alderman for the Town of Rockwell for six years. He thoroughly enjoyed being around others and never met a stranger. Darrell loved water skiing, enjoyed cars, was a NASCAR enthusiast and an avid Dale Earnhardt and Kevin Harvick fan. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, but most of all, loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Ed Galloway, Ophelia Morgan, Helen Brady, Lester Galloway, Lavada Doby, Bernard Galloway, Earl Galloway, Jack Galloway, and Alan Galloway.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane Jones Galloway; son, Todd Lee Galloway and wife, Kimberley, of Rockwell; Daughter, Kimberly Galloway Gross and husband, Gary, of Kankakee, IL; grandchildren, Jacob, Luke, Kendall, Taylor, Hanna, and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Greysen Sadler and Hugh Donlon; and his sisters, Gaynell Funderburk and Edie Almond.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Thursday, February 1, from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM at First Baptist Church of Gold Hill.

A memorial service will follow at 11:30 AM on Thursday, at the church, conducted by Pastor Toney Parsons, Pastor Todd Galloway and Pastor Benny Vickrey.
