Eric Poe Obituary
O'FALLON, Mo. - Eric Allen Poe, 53, O'Fallon Mo., died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
Eric was born Feb., 14, 1956, in Salisbury, to Allene Brannon Poe and the late Lester Poe, Sr. He was a graduate of North Rowan High School, class of 1974, and Western North Carolina University in Asheville, class of 1979. While at Western North Carolina University he was active with the ROTC.
Eric was a veteran of the US Army and the US National Guard where he obtained the rank of Captain. He was a Logistic Specialist with the US Government. Erick previously attended New Hope AME Zion Church. He was also a member of the Alpha Phi Alphi Fraternity.
Survivors include son, Brandon Allen Poe of Leesburg, Va.; daughter, Alaine Rene Poe of Leesburg, Va.; mother, Allene Brandon Poe of Salisbury; brother, Lester Poe, Jr. of Springsfield, Va.; sisters, Leslie Parker of Salisbury and Vera Poe of Monroesville, Pa.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., Monday, May 11, at. At other times, the family will be at the home of his mother, Mrs. Allene B. Poe, 1615 Long Ferry Rd., Salisbury.
Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church with the Pastor, Reverend Thomas Lee, Officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

To the Poe Family, I worked with Eric in Alexandria,VA, before SDDC moved to Scott AFB. I was always amazed at how calm Eric was and how nothing seemed to bother him. My prayer is that God will comfort your hearts in Jesus Name.

I first met Eric in Alexandria, VA where we worked in the same building. In July 2007 we all moved out to Ilinois, my first New Years Eve I spent with Eric and friends. We had a great time. He will be missed. :-(

Mr. Poe is truely a remarkable man. I will miss his beautiful smile and kind words. We work in the same building; everyday he would stop by my desk to say hello or share a sweet treat from my candy jar. He always made me smile. I miss him already...I hope that you find peace in knowing that you have an angel on your shoulders. God bless your family.

I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Eric and I was on the same line while pledging at Western Carolina University. I consider him a dear friend and will miss him greatly. You should be very proud of Eric and feel blessed to have had him as friend. May God comfort you in this time grief.
