Florence Goodnight Obituary
SALISBURY - Mrs. Florence B. Goodnight, 89, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Genesis HealthCare, while recovering from a recent heart attack.
Born March 13, 1922, in Salisbury, Florence was the daughter of the late Ula Graham Barger and Jess Barger. As a child she walked to school on Kepley Road and later attended Hurley School.
Mrs. Goodnight worked and later retired from Cannon Mills as a weaver after more than 40 years. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Mrs. Goodnight was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold M. Goodnight, Jr., whom she married June 25, 1938; along with six sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her son, Tony R. Goodnight of Salisbury; daughters Alice G. Hardin of Salisbury, Betty G. McMillan of Houston, Tex.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Visitation will be held Friday, June 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Summersett Funeral Home.
Service: Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 4 at 9:30 a.m. at Summersett Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Salem Lutheran Church cemetery at 10:15 a.m.

I remember Florence being a kind and gentle woman and going to visit her, Arnold, Alice, and Betty at their home when I was a boy. I know she will be missed.

Mrs. Florence was a wonderful neighbor. I always enjoyed sitting in my grandparents yard watching her work with her flowers and garden. She definatly had a green thumb. Im so sorry about whats happened but you all know she is free of pain.
