Frances Culverwell Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Frances Belle Culverwell of Salisbury, NC on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Abbotts Creek Center in Lexington, NC.

Fran was born October 29, 1928, in Singapore to the late Francis James Culverwell and Anna Belle Culverwell. Like her mother, she was an artist.

In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her brother, James Fleetwood Culverwell.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Holly Blackman of Salisbury, NC, Heather Nissen (David) of Corona Del Mar, CA, and grandson, Patrick Blackman of Bethesda, MD.

Mom, Mima, Fran, you were that Clear Lake upon whose shores you lived and laughed, both serene and turbulent, mirroring the ebb and flow of your experiences, always finding calm after a storm, serving to challenge us and teach us the most important of life's lessons: accepting impermanence, understanding the power of gratitude, finding the strength in forgiveness and the subtle joy in service. You were never a burden. Now light winds and clear waters take back the soul of Frances Culverwell who was never ours to keep.
