Frances Lawson

Frances “Fran” Amelia Stiller Lawson, of Salisbury, NC passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at her home after an extended battle with Alzheimer's dementia. Fran was born December 29, 1944 in Salisbury, NC to the late John Edgar Stiller, who passed away in 1955, when she was eight years old and Grace Johnston Stiller who passed away in 1992. She was a graduate of West Rowan High School Class of 1963 and Salisbury Business College. Fran worked at Food Lion after business college, Fiber-Industries as a billing clerk, where she met Jerry. When they lived in Florence, Florence, SC she worked for Manpower and placed herself as secretary for the Athletic Director at Frances Marion College, where she became close friends with women's basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell and was an attendant in her wedding. After returning to Salisbury, Fran found her passion as a Title 1 Reading Tutor with Rowan Salisbury schools. Fran was Lutheran for her whole life attending several Lutheran Churches as the family moved. A few special churches were St. Mark's Lutheran Church Salisbury where she was baptized and married. She was a founding member of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church in Florence, SC and an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Salisbury, NC for 32 years. She sang in the choir at most all of them. She was secretary of the Kiwanis Club in Salisbury, NC and pledge of the year at the Beta Psi chapter of Beta Sigma Psi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Don, Clyde and Boyce Stiller. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 51 years, Jerry J. Lawson; son, Ryan Lawson and wife Amber and their children Abbey and Ben and many special nieces and nephews and their families. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday (June 8) at St. John's Lutheran Church, conducted by Dr. Rhodes Woolly. The family will speak to friends following the service in Peeler Hall at the church. Memorials: Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 W.
