Gail Williams

Gail Laverne Williams, 71, of Salisbury was born to the late Hannah Cureton Norris on July 10, 1951 in Rowan County departed this earthly life on April 1, 2023. Attended Dunbar High School, 1969 graduate of North Rowan High School , 1973 graduate of Western Carolina where she was crowned the First Black Homecoming Queen, getting her degree in Secondary Education and receiving her MBA from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She retired from McCormick Spice Company in 2003. A faithful New Hope A.M. E. Zion Church a faithful member of the Jubilee Choir and also sang with New Hope AME Zion Church, both of Salisbury. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hannah Cureton Norris, and stepfather, Booker T. Norris. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Steve F. Williams; sons, Brian F. Williams, Patrick Ngongba (Taj); two brothers, Jimmy Cureton, Salisbury, Jeffrey Norris(Cynthia), Greensboro; three sisters, Michele Cornelius (Andre'), Columbia, Maryland, Tara Bobo, Cheryl Houston, both of Salisbury; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and host of friends. Arrangements: Memorial Service will be held Saturday April 8, at 2 p.m. at New Hope A.M. E. Zion Church.
