Gary Melton Sweatt

KANNAPOLIS - Gary Melton Sweatt, 64, of Kannapolis, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.

He was born Dec. 20, 1948, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Eugene and Doris Haskins Sweatt.

Gary owned and operated Plain or Fancy Catering in Kannapolis since 1992. He loved to cook, travel, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Kannapolis Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Goetzinger Sweatt; stepchildren Jason Haynes (Jennifer) of Concord, Jessica Haynes of Kannapolis; grandchildren Grayson Haynes and Lilly Beth Bost; and his sister, Judy Roberts of Concord.

Services: Family and friends will gather at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. to celebrate Gary's life.

Memorials: May be made to Focus On A Cure, c/o Karen Goforth, 1418 S. Main St., Kannapolis, NC 28081.
