James Harrison Obituary
Jimmy was born on June 26, 1937 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late James Wesley Harrison and Beatrice Sue Hartsell.
He ran several different businesses through the years, including Granite Tire and Alignment. His fondness for vintage cars was well known. He lovingly restored many beautiful classics, including a 1929 Ford sedan. His last restoration was a 1946 Chevy sedan. He was a staple at classic car cruise-ins in North and South Carolina and Tennessee.
Jimmy was also an incredible guitarist. He played in many bands in the area during his lifetime and had played on the Arthur Smith Show back in the day. He could play practically anything after hearing it through just once or twice. His music brought joy to many people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Robert "Bob" Harrison and William "Nink" Harrison.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicki Drye Harrison, of Albemarle; daughters Tammy (Rodney) Mauldin of New London, Teresa (Shane) Bolton of Rockwell, and son Terry (Angie) Harrison of Rockwell; stepdaughter Colette (Larry) Hatley of Albemarle and stepson Joey Drye of Albemarle.
He is also survived by his brothers Kenneth Harrison of New London and Jeff Harrison of Mt. Gilead, and his sisters Vicky Shank of Richfield, Ellen Hatley of Norwood, and Diane Chance of Albemarle. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank the staff of Tillery Compassionate Care for taking excellent care of Jimmy.
Jimmy faithfully attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Albemarle. A memorial service will be held at Lakeview Baptist Church on Monday, November 18 at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends following the service.
