Jennie Mabel Tarlton

Jennie “Mabel” Biggerstaff Tarlton, 85, of Rockwell, died Jan. 8, 2016, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Mabel was born on Jan. 25, 1930, in Gaston County, the daughter of the late Alford A. Biggerstaff and the late Ella Cleo Smith Biggerstaff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “C.J.” Tarlton; two children, Charles Dale Tarlton and Susan T. Goodin; and siblings Mary, Kathleen, Evelyn, Guy, Robert and Cleveland. Mabel was a member of Phaniels Baptist Church in Rockwell. Survivors include seven grandchildren: Shelly Wright, Jenny Stirewalt, Lori Stallings, Barbara Morris, Lanette Follenius, Eric Tarlton and Leann Tarlton; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosa Black. Arrangements: The service for Mrs. Tarlton will take place at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11 at Phaniels Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Michael Taylor. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m., Monday before the service.
