Joe Louis Mingo Sr.

1936 - 2016

Joe Louis Mingo, Sr., 79, of Kingston Drive, Kannapolis, NC passed away Monday, June 20, at CMC – Northeast. He was born September 9, 1936 in Cabarrus County to the late Jerry Mingo and the late Nellie Johnson Mingo. Joe was a 1954 graduate of G. W. Carver High School and attended Shaw University Cape Center. He was formerly employed by Salisbury Rowan Community Council as a Case Manager. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and Layman. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Precinct Judge for the Cabarrus County Board of Elections, volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and served on the Kannapolis City School Board over 23 years. Services will be on Saturday, June 25 at First Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:00 with funeral services at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mingo. Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife, Frances R. Mingo of the home; two sons, Joe L. Mingo, Jr. (Adriane) of Charlotte and Jeffery Allen Mingo of Huntersville; two granddaughters, Alexis Victoria Mingo and Allyson Marie Mingo; two sisters, Elfrieta Brewer (John) of Charlotte and Blandene Thompson of Kannapolis; two brothers, Jerry Mingo (Aurelia) and Rev. Charles Mingo both of Kannapolis, and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Clark Funeral Home is serving the Mingo Family.
