John Harry McLaughlin, 86, of Salisbury, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Novant Health Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House after a period of declining health.
John was born December 25, 1938, in Aurora, IL to the late Gerald Robert McLaughlin and Ivernia Gration McLaughlin. He went to school in Aurora and Cornell college in Iowa. He worked for Lyon Metal out of Illinois and was transferred to many places selling lockers and storage equipment. In 1984, he chose to start his own company in North Carolina which is now called Locker's Unlimited. John ran Locker's Unlimited with his son John and became a great success. He loved playing golf, baseball, swimming, and nickel and dime poker with his friends. John met his second wife of 30 years Myrnie, playing party bridge on a blind date set up by friends. The date stuck, it grew into a marriage, and they branched out to play duplicate bridge playing tournaments as well as local games. John was still enjoying the many bridge friends that he made in Salisbury. He loved to travel and did so extensively.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Myrnie; four children that he loved dearly: Dawn William (Marshall) of Charlotte, Kelley Magill (James) of Greenville, SC, John, Jr. (Reba) of Charlotte, and Michael (Tiffany) of Davidson, two stepchildren A.J. Posluzny (Jo) of Maryland, and Robert Posluzny (Miriam) of Indiana. 11 grandchildren, Brad, CJ, Ashley, Christine, Kelsey, Stephany, Devin, Grace, Ray Posluzny, Nick Posluzny, and Aubrey Posluzny, 12 great grandchildren and his brother Richard (Elli) of Illinois and brother-in-law Josh Stroup (Linda) of Littiz, PA
