Jonathan Andrew Sokolnicki

Jonathan Andrew Sokolnicki, age 39, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025 at his home in Battleboro, NC. He was born October 1, 1985, in Newark, DE, the beloved son of Rex and Janet Sokolnicki. Jon as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His short journey on this earth was one marked by love.

Jon attended St. John the Beloved in Wilmington, DE; Kennett High School, Kennett Square, PA where he was a formidable wrestler; Williamston College of the Trades, Media, PA, then earned his AA Degree from Coconino Community College, Flagstaff, AZ.

Jonathan was a strong and caring man who proudly and honorably served for five years with the 379th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, U.S. Navy, supporting Operations “Enduring Freedom” and “Iraq Freedom” in Al Udeid, Qatar. He excelled in the field of Industrial Trades and was passionate about his most recent position with Carlton Industrial Solutions, Greensboro, NC, Jon was selfless and giving with his personal time. He was exceptionally creative and enjoyed cooking, gardening, gaming, performing electronic music and reading Stephen King novels. Of course, “Alice” his Great Dane and joy, accompanied him on his path in life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving parents Rex Sokolnicki (Pamela), Janet A. Sokolnicki; brother Matthew, nephew Bennett, grandmother Evelyn Subach, uncles Jan, Max, Lee, aunt Shirley and cousins Cory, Paul, Kevin, Grant, Lisa and Erin.

The family will receive friends 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (August 27) at Summersett Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
