Judy Hess Carden

Judy Hess Carden, 77, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Monroe Rehabilitation, Monroe. Born February 27, 1944 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Annie Lee Martin Hess and Franklin Lewis Hess, Sr. She was educated in the Salisbury schools and graduated from Boyden High School and Appalachian State Teachers College. Mrs. Carden taught in the Salisbury/Rowan School system and taught Home Economics at East Rowan High School before retiring. She was a lifelong member of North Main Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday School and the Adult ladies. Mrs. Carden served as President of the Women's Missionary Union. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Norton Carden on August 31, 2013 and a brother, Franklin Lewis Hess, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Christopher Larry Carden (Kathy) of Nags Head, Matthew Brian Carden (Emily) of Landis and Laura Carden Smith (Thomas) of Concord; grandchildren, Ella Carden, Miles Carden, Connor Winstead, John Winstead, Jace Smith and Braxton Abel Smith. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Sunday (Oct. 24) at North Main Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 2 PM with the Rev. Dr. Dale Robertson officiating. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to North Main Baptist Church, 1501 N.
