Lance Middleton

Lance Monroe Middleton, 78 years old, of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 7, 2023. Lance was born on Nov. 4, 1944, in Cabarrus County to the late Willie Dean Middleton, Sr. and Wilhelimenia Jones Middleton. Lance was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School and Gardner Webb Junior College. He then attended Wake Forest University for a year and then transferred and graduated from Campbell University with a bachelor's degree. Lance was a teacher for 30 years at South Rowan High School, where he also was a Student Counselor Advisor. As well as being a teacher, Lance also worked for his family business, Atomic Oil and Middleton Service Stations and the family's rental properties. Lance was a longtime member of Centerview Baptist Church, where he was a past treasurer, a deacon, and also sang in the choir. He was a chairman for bible donations for The Gideons International Kannapolis Camp for many years. Lance also liked to walk or ride his bike everyday in his spare time. Lance was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Willie Dean Middleton, Jr and Herman Clayton Middleton; and his nephew, Bill Graham. Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Frances Jannette Middleton; his niece, Deandra Graham; his nephews, Deano Middleton, III and his wife Rita and Clark Middleton and his fiancé Mina; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as his special man, Hakon Middleton. Arrangements: The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centerview Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC with a Celebration of Life, officiated by Rev. Willie Rash at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. Memorials: The family is requesting that no flowers be sent.
