Margie Martin, born on January 25, 1937, in Rowan County, North Carolina, daughter of the late Margaret Barger Weaver, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 88. A resident of
Salisbury, North Carolina, Margie lived a life full of dedication and love for her community and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Martin and her great granddaughters Cheyenne Martin and Sarah Parham.
Margie is survived by her children and their families: Darrell Martin (Debbie) and their children Amanda Earnhardt (Brian), Harley and Delilah Earnhardt, Nathan, Jason, Felicity, and Chylah Waller; Bobbi Martin, Josh, and Noah Martin, and his daughter Sarah Martin; Wesley Martin and Jennifer Martin, and their children Jacob Martin, Layla Cook (Jeremy), daughter Isabella, Rebecca Martin (Caden), daughter Naomi, Cory and Brittany Martin; Dawn Shores (Kelly), and their children Amber Copeland (Scott), her daughter Hayley Shores; and Lauren Zimmerman (Jon Marcom), and their son Bruce Zimmerman; Donald Martin and his children Gracie Dale, Angel Martin, Chris Gibbons, and Trista Donaldson.
Margie graduated in 1955 from China Grove High School. She worked as a seamstress for Leisure Lads and Robert Alan. In 1983, she began providing childcare in her home, a venture she undertook with the help of Billy. Together, they cared for numerous children who lovingly called them Mawmaw and Pawpaw. After Billy passed in 2016, Margie slowed down but continued to cherish having little children around. As a cherished member of Grace Lutheran, she would invite young children to her home at Christmas for "Cookie Day," a tradition that lasted for many years.
Margie was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran and was baptized at Salem Lutheran. She served as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader, sang in the choir, belonged to the Ilene Wise Ladies Circle, and volunteered with Rowan Helping Ministries, where her spirit and love for Jesus touched many lives.
Her lifelong passion was writing. Margie took writing classes at Rowan Community College and eventually published her own book of life stories and memories to share with her family and friends. Most importantly, Margie's passion for Jesus Christ was central to her life. From a young age, she held her Bible close, knowing that the word of God would always protect her, a lesson she shared with everyone.
Margie Martin's legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her community will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
The family will have a visitation on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 PM with the burial to follow at the church cemetery.
