Marlene Waller Shue

Marlene Waller Shue, 83, of Rockwell, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025.

She was born August 24, 1942, in Rowan County, to the late Grover Clarence "G.C." Waller, Sr. and Halma Rimer Waller. Marlene was a graduate of East Rowan High School, where she was a talented basketball star and was voted most athletic. She was employed by Celanese and retired after 33 years of service. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she was active in many areas of the church, including cooking for many church functions, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School Classes, and Church Council. Marlene loved spending time with her family, visiting Oak Island, and playing golf.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter and her son-in-law, Richard Dean Davis, Jr.

Marlene is survived by her daughters, Penny Canaday and Trudy Davis; granddaughters, Brittnay Davis Mundy (Joshuah Mundy) and Kayla Davis Voros (Levi Voros); seven great-grandchildren; and brother, G.C. "Buddy" Waller.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 12:30 PM until 1:15 PM on Tuesday, September 30, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

The funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

Entombment will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell
