Matthew Sebastian Obituary
Born in Salisbury, NC, Matt spent the first ten years of his life in Spencer, NC before his family moved to China Grove. Matt was a 1993 graduate of South Rowan High School and graduated from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington in 1998 with a BS in Marketing. After spending several years working in sales, Matt went back to school to earn his nursing degree, graduating from Cabarrus School of Health Sciences in 2009. Matt was most proud of his work as a nurse. He loved helping others and enjoyed his time working in cardiac care at Northeast Medical Center.
Matt had a passion for cars and all types of music. He enjoyed attending car shows and live music shows with friends. He loved to travel and equally enjoyed trips to the NC mountains and any place where he could put his toes in the sand. Matt loved Tarheel basketball and joked he had the unfortunate problem of being a Carolina Panthers fan. Never meeting a stranger, Matt loved spending time talking to and getting to know others. Friends and family will always remember his story telling, unique sense of humor and his boisterous laugh.
Matt was preceded in death by his father, Don Sebastian. Those left to cherish memories of Matt are his mother, Anne Freeze Sebastian of China Grove; wife, Carmen Wright Sebastian and their children, Jacob and Melina Sebastian, all of Concord; sister, Carrie and husband Dustin Efird of China Grove; niece, Chloe Wright of Burlington and nephews, Beckham and Archer Efird of China Grove. Matt is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Mt. Moriah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 750 Mt. Moriah Church Road, China Grove, NC 28023. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm with the service following at 3:00 pm. The Rev. Tim Kneuss will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081, via the Atrium Health Foundation.
