Robert Harvey

Robert Eugene “Bob” Harvey, 88, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2022 at his residence. Born April 19, 1934 in Tulsa, Okla., he was the son of Cora Emma Upton Harvey and Clarence Leo Harvey. Mr. Harvey was a graduate of Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State) where he earned his chemical engineering degree. He worked as a chemical engineer with Shell Oil and National Starch until his retirement. Bob was known to everyone as Grandpa. Preceding him in death was his wife, Doris Carnes Harvey whom he married March 13, 1957; brother, Clarence Lee Harvey, Jr.; and sister, Juanita Harvey Burns. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shela Sapp (Dave Joyner); son, Gene Harvey; grandchildren, Erin Lee Carrion (Ashley), Shelby Marie Beck (Mark), Justin Tyler Harvey, Jessica Taylor Harvey; great-grandchildren, Owen Thomas Beck, Atlas Cole Martin, Evan James Beck. Arrangements: Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, at Rowan Memorial Park cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Arc of North Carolina, Triad Region, 108 Dorsett Dr. Salisbury, NC 28144 and Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, 1229 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House for their loving care of Mr. Harvey.
