Ronald Durham Obituary

Ronnie Durham

LEXINGTON - Ronald Eugene Durham, 57, of Indian Wells Circle, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Durham was born Jan. 10, 1956, in Rowan County, to Sidney Earl Durham and Jean Bowers Durham. He was operations manager for 33 years at Swing Transport and a former Mason of Fulton Lodge in Salisbury. Ronnie enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and especially golf. He enjoyed traveling with the FOJI group on many golf trips.

He always had a smile, no matter what health issues he was struggling with. Mr. Durham loved his church and attended when his health allowed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Earl Durham and Jean Bowers Durham.

Surviving are his loving wife of 25 years, Denise Swing Durham of the home; son, Brad Durham of Rockwell; daughter, Courtney Grimsley and husband Wesley of Lexington; brother, Buster Durham of Mocksville and sisters, Vickie Snider and Norma Barney and husband Eddie, both of Lexington.

Service: A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at First Reformed United Church of Christ, 104 East Center Street, Lexington, where he was a member, with the Rev. Robin Keating officiating.

Visitation:The family will receive friends following the service from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 and other times at the home.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nazareth Children's Home, 725 Crescent Road, Rockwell, NC 28138; or First Reformed United Church of Christ, 104 East Center Street, Lexington, NC 27292.

Denise,
I remember when I first came to Swing Transport, and how you all embraced me and the love I was shown.
Ronnie was a person who you could talk to and he understood. He was a loving, kind friend and I will always remember him for that. His smile was encouraging, although he would be in pain, he would still try to make you feel better. I will miss him althoguh I did not see him much, but the thought of him not being there. As Ronnie battled much pain on this earth, God held him in the palm of His hand as he entered into the Kindgom of Heaven..a kind loving, gentle, caring person. Denise, Brad, Courtney, and all the family, our thoughts and prayers are with you. You were honored to have had a wonderful person in your life. Ronnie will be so missed. We love all of this family.
