Suzanne Petrea Obituary
Sue was born October 31, 1937 in Dundas, IL to the late Daryl Curtis Threet and Ivy Clemon Threet. She was an artist who loved painting, sewing, crafts and playing the piano. Sue retired from the Rowan County Schools after working in the Insurance Department.
Sue was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a former director of the Men's Chorus, the Youth Choir and Handbells. She was one of the founding members of Sharing Shepherds, a West Virginia ministry bringing many other area churches to work for the needy families in McDowell County, WV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Odell “Buddy” Woodson Petrea Jr. on March 27, 2021; infant son Gregory Stuart Cauble and brothers, Richard and James Threet.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jackie Cauble Wilson of Salisbury, NC and Karen Cauble Stroupe (Rusty) of Boiling Springs, NC; step-son, Dale Petrea (Mia) and step-daughter Dana Petrea Robertson (Jeff) of Salisbury, NC; brother, Jack Threet of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Linda Harrington (Donnie) of Salisbury; brother-in-law, Larry Petrea of Salisbury; grandchildren, Katie Wilson, Will Stroupe, Ben Wilson (fiancee, Kaitlyn Gearing), Cal Stroupe (Maeley), J.T. Stroupe, and Payton Velez (Eric); and one future Stroupe great-grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:30 PM Thursday (Oct 23) at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow at 4 PM at the church, officiated by Rev. Ernie Sheldon. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5080 Sherrills Ford Road, Salisbury, NC 28147.
