Mr. Thomas “T.D.” Lewis Davis, 78, was born in Salisbury, Rowan County, NC to the late Eleazer Lamar Davis and Rebecca Lowery Davis. Thomas was raised in Salisbury, NC and a 1962 graduate of Dunbar High School in East Spencer, NC. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Navy in 1962 and was based in San Diego, CA. During his early life he was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He also attended First Calvary Baptist Church. From 1963-1966 Thomas was employed as an O.R. Equipment Technician and records Clerk at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula, Monterey, CA then from 1967-1970 he served as Records Clerk at UCSF Medical Center Mount Zion, San Francisco, CA. After working from 1970-1985 at Rowan Memorial Hospital Thomas retired. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jacqueline Davis and husband Clee, Sr.and Ceasaer Davis and sister-in-law, Harriett Davis. Thomas was the beloved father of Damaris J. Davis of Salisbury, NC and Giovanni E. Stewart of Orange County, CA and the loving grandfather of Chandler S.J. Davis and Jazzmin Delaney Stewart. He was godfather to Clee A. Davis, Jr. and caring brother to Mae Carol Davis-White (Delaney); L.Z. “Mitt” Davis (Elvia); Benjamin Davis (Suzette), Horace Lee Davis and Mary Lou Phillips (Lloyd “Pete”); sister-in law, Lucille Davis and honorary uncle to a number of nieces and nephews. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Monday (September 20) at Summersett Memorial Chapel. Burial will be Tuesday (September 21) at 10 AM at the U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Blvd location. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Davis family. Online condolences may be made at

Thomas had the most awesome bass voice in Salisbury. He and his brothers were so talented and creative. It was my good fortune to have known and befriended T.D. and his younger siblings at an early age. I extend my sincere condolences to the family as you grieve the loss of your loved one.
